LUCAS, ROBERT ROY, JR., age 90, of Christiansburg passed away Sunday, July 4, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Roy Lucas, Sr. and Laura J. Lucas; his wife, Mary Elizabeth Henderson Lucas; sisters, Alletha Lucas Huff and Eula Lucas Igo. He was a life member of the American Legion and a Disabled Veteran. He was an employee of the U. S. Postal Service with 33 years of service.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Cindy & Melvin Edmonson of Christiansburg; Caroline Lucas of TN; grandchildren, Kelly Edmonson-Tolbert & husband, Matthew of Christiansburg and Jason Lucas Edmonson of Christiansburg; great grandchildren, Carson Tolbert and Haden Tolbert; and several nieces and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8th, 2004 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stan Thompson and Rev. Ron Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Graveside Military Rites conducted by VFW Post #1184. The family wishes to express their thanks to the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Salem Social worker, nursing staff, and Doctor's; Hutchins, Despradel, Dunn, and Lehmann. The Lucas Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg. (382-2612).
