Robert "Bobby" Z. Gerald, age 72, of Ellett Road, Christiansburg went to be with the Lord Friday, September 9, 2005.
He was born in Christiansburg on August 23, 1933, the son of the late Ethel and John Gerald.
Surviving are his wife, Caroline Akers Gerald; two daughters, Karen Barnes and Sharon Gillis; two sons, Larry and Gary Gerald; and five grandchildren.
Bobby was very active in the Gideon Ministry and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon. He was a member of the 82nd Airborn Division of the Army.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, from Trinity Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Monroe Hedrick and Dr. Bill Sutphin. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to The Gideon Ministry through the Bible Memorial Plan (available at the funeral home.) The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Horne Funeral Home.
