Rita Counts Makhoul, 50, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at her home in West Palm Beach FL.
She was born on November 4, 1962 at Radford Community Hospital. Rita graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1981. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and MBA. She was a member of the West Palm Beach Baptist Church in Florida. Although she pursued various careers throughout her life including teaching at several colleges/universities, her most rewarding career was raising her two children.
She was preceded in death by her father Edward Kyle Counts of Snowville, VA. She is survived by her husband, Ramsey John Makhoul; daughter, Amanda Faye Makhoul; son, Christopher John (CJ) Makhoul, all of West Palm Beach, FL; her mother and step-father, Faye and Don Martin of Christiansburg, VA; her sisters, Rhonda and Albert Mah of Radford, VA, and Robin and Dale Brooks of Floyd, VA; her brother Randy and Niese Counts of Parrot, VA; and her step-sister Dottie Martin Frazier of Christiansburg. VA. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a great-niece and a great-nephew.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lance Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013, at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg.
