Ricky Hugh Helvey

September 25, 1953 — March 15, 2022

Ricky Helvey, age 68 of Shawsville, VA, passed away March 15, 2022. He worked as a tow truck operator for Shelor Motor Corporation. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Everett Helvey, Sr. and Marie Helvey; and two brothers, Jordan and Roger Helvey.

Survivors include wife, Diane Roop Helvey; son, Ricky Lee Helvey and wife, Tracy; three stepchildren, Angel Roop Gillis, Joseph Roop and wife, Jennifer; Delbert Harrison and wife, Angie; one brother, Everett Helvey, Jr.; two sisters, Brenda Helvey and Susie Orange and husband, Daniel; seven grandchildren, Madison Helvey, Dusty Roop, Michael Roop, Caitlin Roop, Cody Roop, Brandon Petrey, and Matthew Wetzel; two great grandchildren, Liam Payne, and Ava Petrey. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, special friend and neighbor, Ester Ann Yopp, along with lots of friends. Ricky loved everyone and everyone loved him. He always lived life with a smile and a laugh to share.

Visitation will be Friday, March 18 from 6-8:00pm at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19 at 12:00pm at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
