Richard Nuel McGuire

Richard Nuel McGuire, 80, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2017, after a battle with diabetes.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bishop McGuire, parents Nuel T. McGuire and Belua Vaughn McGuire, and Brother James McGuire. He is survived by his sons, Eric Martin McGuire, Gregory Alan McGuire and wife Susan; three grandchildren, Brandon M. McGuire, Bailey E. McGuire, and Kellye M. McGuire; and several loved friends and family. The family would like to send a special thank you to Chiyomi Tanaka for her love and care especially in his final days.
He loved the outdoors hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching sports especially Virginia Tech and Christiansburg High School where all the kids called him ‘Pops’. Richard served our country in the U.S. Army and was retired from Litton Poly-Scientific after 30+ years.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 17, 2017, from 12-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad.
