Simmons, Pearl Young, 91, of Christiansburg, VA, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, James G. Young and Mattie Akers Young; and several brothers and sisters.
She was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary Akers, Ruby Epperly and Lake Bishop; her daughters, Doris Jones, Peggy Bain and son-in-law, Sonny; her son, Sammy Simmons and daughter-in-law, Debbie Simmons; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018.
