September 21, 1941 — April 13, 2010
Simpson, Patrick, 68, of Blacksburg, VA, died at his home on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. Patrick loved the natural world, the words of Henry David Thoreau and Lao Tzu, his cello, and the works of J.S. Bach. He delighted in mountain walks, his beloved home and garden, and endless cups of tea.
He is survived by his wife, Jana Ruble, step-daughter and son-in-law, Anya Hinkle and Gen Kogure, cousins David and Dixie Waters and Dianne Ferey, step-niece Tasia Green, sisters-in-law, Susan Hord and Martha Lobdell and their families.
Grateful thanks to friends near and far, colleagues at VA Tech, and the cushion of concern from the general Blacksburg Community. Threads of kindness connect us all. Thanks to all the healers who guided him through this passage.
