Opal and Henry shared a “special love” for one another. Even after many years of marriage he still called her “sweetheart.” They were a giving, caring couple always helping anyone in need, be it family or anyone in the community. Opal and Henry were members of Crockett Springs United Methodist Church, with Opal attending over 50 years. Opal and Henry shared a love for flowers, as evidenced by the beautiful iris gardens around their home. Opal was known as Grandma and Aunt Opal to many, who will forever be grateful for her hospitality at family reunions and especially for the crock-full of ice cold lemonade – the best!

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 15, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Crockett Springs United Methodist Church, Shawsville. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16th, at 1 p.m. at the church, with Rev. Emory Tarpley and Rev. David Mucha officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville.

Flowers are appreciated, however, anyone wishing to do so may make a donation in Opal's memory to Crockett Springs United Methodist Church, 2780 Crockett Springs Road, Shawsville, VA 24162.
