Myron Ungar

October 30, 1943 — March 10, 2014

Myron Milton Ungar, of Christiansburg, youngest son of the late Martha Cooper Ungar and Max Ungar passed away peacefully March 10, 2014 after a long hard fought illness.

Dad was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. Following graduation from Granby High School dad went on to do what he did best, sales! Dad was the top salesman for Phillips Oldsmobile in Virginia Beach for several years before moving to South Carolina to start working for Combined Insurance Company. In the mid 1980’s dad moved to Christiansburg, VA and continued working for Combined Insurance. While there Dad was awarded several national sales awards, Combined even declared a “National Myron Ungar Day” for his sales efforts and leadership skills. Dad loved Christiansburg, the mountains, the clean air and most of all, the people.

Dad is survived by his wife, Betty Ungar of Christiansburg, VA; his daughters, Dana Patish (Larry) of Virginia Beach, VA, Bonnie Dowdy (Mitchell) of Blacksburg, VA, and Heather Cardenas (Tony) of Quemato, NM; and son, Joshua Ungar and his fiancé Christina Nordman of Raleigh, NC, his step-daughter, Angie (Robert) Smith; and step-son Christopher Shattuck of West Moreland, TN; his sister, Barbara Krampf of Virginia Beach, VA; and his brother Phillip Ungar (Pamela) of Harrisonburg, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon Ungar, Lauren Dowdy, Austin Dowdy, Melanie Patish, Stacey Patish, Jessica Patish, Sara Ungar and Isabella Ungar; as well as several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his humor and his bad jokes.

Burial will take place at a later date. Shiva will take place Wednesday and Thursday, March 12 and 13, 2014, at the home of Dana and Larry Patish.
