Moir Dalton

Moir “Mo” Addison Dalton, 75, of Elliston, was peacefully called to his eternal home on Sunday, October 23, 2011.

He was born in Hillsville, on March 26, 1936 to the late Charlie Addison and Macy Goad Dalton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elizabeth Dalton Mize.

Moir is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Shelby Coble Dalton; one brother, William Dean Dalton and wife, Ruby of Elliston; two sisters, Brenda Dalton Huff and husband Eugene, of Hillsville and Karen Dalton Gallimore and husband Robert, of Hillsville. He was a loving and devoted dad and Pa Pa and is also survived by one daughter, Dianne Dalton Hall and husband Bubbie, of Elliston; two sons, Moir Stephen Dalton and friend, Lisa Baily of Elliston and Bradley Addison Dalton and wife April, of Vinton; two grandchildren, Chance Lawrence Hall and wife, Terri Hensley-Hall of Roanoke and Heather Hall Light and husband, Barry of Elliston; one step great grandchild Madison Grace Hensley; many nieces and nephews; and a furry friend, Tom.

Moir was employed at Montgomery County Collection Site for 5 years and retired from Koppers after 25 years. He was an avid sportsman and animal lover and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a faithful and devoted member of the Elliston Church of God and is beloved by all in his community.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Elliston Church of God with Rev. Wayne Powell and Rev. Ronald King officiating. Friends may visit with family Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 5 to 8 pm at the church. Interment will follow the service at Piedmont Cemetery.
