Mildred Sutphin Burk

October 19, 1933 — January 12, 2022

Mildred Sutphin Burk, 88, of Christiansburg, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Wednesday January 12, 2022. Mildred was born on October 19, 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Gill Burk, her parents, Kenneth and Viola Sutphin, two brothers, Jimmy Lee “Mickey” Sutphin, Chester Wayne “Bud” Sutphin, and son-in-law Mike Dull.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Paula Dull of Roanoke, Mark (Claire) Burk of Chesapeake, granddaughter Michelle Mullins of Blue Ridge, grandsons, Ben (Trent) Dull of Roanoke, Andrew Burk of Atlanta, Georgia, Emerson Burk of Chesapeake, Paul (Candi) Dull of Moseley, great- grandchildren Kaitlyn and William Mullins of Blue Ridge, Madison and Hudson Dull of Moseley.
Mildred is also survived by her sisters, Doris Ratcliffe of Christiansburg, Shirley (Garnet) Westmoreland of Salem, Dreama (Randall) Epperly of Christiansburg, and many devoted nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Mildred attended Christiansburg High School, and was a lifelong, faithful member of Fairlawn Grace Brethren Church of Radford, Virginia. She loved her family, music, singing, traveling, her church, and gardening. Mildred was an awesome cook, and her family enjoyed gathering around her table. Over the years, she loved attending her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great- grandchildren’s sporting events. Mildred enjoyed attending gospel and country music sings, flat-footing, and playing games with her family.
Mildred had a keen sense of humor, always enjoying a good laugh - her joyful smile lit up the room. She was as beautiful inside as out. Mildred liked sewing, reading the Bible, and talking on the phone with her family and friends.

Mildred was a good listener, encouraging and supportive, having a positive word of advice for every situation. She was great with children, lovingly caring for many over the years. As a gentle and godly woman, Mildred lived her faith daily, and appreciated every act of kindness.
Heartfelt appreciation and love goes out to Gary and Sandra Teaster, Randall and Dreama Epperly, Doris Ratcliffe, Becky Ratcliffe, Kenny and Lisa Farley, Larry and Ann Hall, Sue Foster, and Rosetta White. Special thanks to the staff on 8 Mountain PCU, at Carilion Clinic, Roanoke.
Lastly, to everyone who prayed, visited, called, or texted - every act of kindness to our mom was greatly appreciated, and we pray that God will richly bless you in return.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 5:00-7:00pm at Horne Funeral Service and Crematory, Inc, 1300 N. Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Virginia 24073. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at 2:00pm, also at Horne Funeral Service and Crematory, Inc with Pastor Kenny Farley officiating. Interment will follow at Belmont Community Cemetery, 2149 Dominion Drive, Christiansburg, Virginia 24073. The family kindly requests that you mask when entering the facility.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation be made to Fairlawn Grace Brethren Church, 6893 Mills Avenue, Fairlawn, Virginia 24141.
