Margie Lee Newby, 77, of Christiansburg, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Edward Newby; son, John Edward Newby, Jr.; parents Roy & Virginia Altizer; and a sister, Edith Stewart.
Margie is survived by her children Roy Phillip Newby, Brenda Jane Nagle and Pamela Sue Akers; grandchildren Bradley Newby, Tony Akers and Brandon Akers; great-grandchild Sabrina Akers; and a sister Charlotte Altizer of Christiansburg, VA. Mom was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She loved her family and loved life. She devoted her life to her family and friends. Mom and Dad had a country store for many years. After retiring from that they enjoyed watching their grandchildren grow. Mom loved to go to auctions, play bingo and bowl. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, from 5-7 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19th at 1 pm in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ronnie Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
