Madelyn Wanstreet

April 3, 1923 — January 28, 2010

Madelyn Ebbert Wanstreet of Blacksburg, Va. died at Montgomery Hospital on January 28,2010. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Blacksburg and recently of Holy Spirit Catholic of Christiansburg, Va.

Madelyn was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Wanstreet, her parents, Lawrence and Elizabeth Fahey Ebbert, sisters Genevieve Ehni, Margaret Ebbert, Mary Floto, Angela Harris, Rhea Ebbert, Eileen Helfer, and a niece, Peggy Marshall.

Madelyn was born and raised in Wheeling, WV, was a graduate ofSt. Joseph's Academy and a medical stenographer to the interns at Wheeling Hospital until her marriage to James Wanstreet of New Milton, WV.

They lived in various cities in West Virginia and spent most of their married lives in Clarksburg, WV where they were active members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church during the time Jim worked there up until Jim passed away. Madelyn volunteered in various organizations but mainly at the Mustard Seed.

After Jim's death, Madelyn lived at the Welty Residents Home in Wheeling, WV for one year and then moved to Blacksburg, Va. She was a resident of Showalter Center of Warm Hearth Village for eleven years and just recently of the Kroontje Health Care Center.

Madelyn is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Larry and Ann Ebbert of Plantation, Fl. Her sister and brother-in-law Dolores and Bob Gribben of Christians burg, Va, a sister-in-law Eileen Morris of Barberton, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, University Boulevard, Christiansburg on Tuesday, February 9,2010 at 6:00 PM, celebrated by Fr. John Prinelli. Internment will be at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetary, Clarksburg, WV.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of both Showalter and The Willows at the Kroontje Health Care Center of Warm Hearth Village and Dr. Karole Gordon for the excellent care she received.
