Mabel Ruth Conner, 93, from Shawsville, passed away on August 28, 2012, at Richfield Recovery Care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvel Conner.
She is survived by her daughters, Mary Sue Farris and Mildred (Millie) Hall (Wes) from Salem; son, Joseph Conner of Roanoke; grandson Anthony Farris (Maggie) of Salem; three step-great-granddaughters; sister, Thalia Linkous of Shawsville; sister-in-laws, Ethel Smith of Shawsville, Frances Smith of Orange, VA. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
She was affectionately known as “Tootie” to her family. She will be remembered as a loving Christian mother and friend that loved everyone. She was employed by Montgomery County School system for over 20 years and at Camp Alta Mons for 25 years.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 30, 2012, from 5-8 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31st at 11 am at Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dan Carawan. Interment will follow at Piedmont Cemetery, Shawsville.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Richfield, Third Floor East for their many years of care and dedication.
