LORETTA AKERS MARSHALL, “DUKIE”, 55, of Riner, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital with her loved ones by her side.
She was born in Montgomery County, VA, on May 10, 1955.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hestle and Dot Akers and a brother, Buck Akers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years (the love of her life), Paul Marshall; son, Anthony Marshall and wife Mallory; daughter, Amber Marshall and her friend, Zach Reed; brothers, Donald (Sonny) Akers, Phillip Akers and wife, Debbie; sisters, Annetta Sowers and husband, Kenneth Moles, Eloise Minnick, Phyllis & husband Johnny Meredith, and sister-in-law, Jean Akers; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was employed by the Riner Food Center for 21 years.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 25, 2011, from 5-8 pm at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 11 am at the Christiansburg Church of Christ, with Mr. Dennis Curd officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Dishon Cemetery in Snowville.
