Lois Jennings

June 4, 1931 — March 28, 2009

Lois Bernelle Jennings, 77, of Christiansburg, VA, went to her heavenly home on March 27, 2009 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

Lois was born on June 4, 1931 in Carroll County, VA and was the daughter of Marylee M. and Haven B. Utt. Lois was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family, bowling and arranging her flowers.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Jonathan Jennings, of Christiansburg; by children Rhonda Price and husband, Willie, of Christiansburg; Dewayne Jennings and wife, Janet, of Blacksburg; and Chris Miller and husband, Steve, of Morristown, TN. She is also survived by grandchildren, Carmen Purcell and husband, Jay; Heather Woolwine and husband, Chris; Stacy Nunn and husband, Joe; Nikki, Angela, and Jonathan Price; Jack and Clay Jennings, Billy Brizendine and Emma Miller; and great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, and Katelyn Woolwine. Lois is survived by brothers and sisters, Bill Utt and wife, Ann, of Winston-Salem, NC; Nancy Murphy and husband, Tommy of Roanoke; Clara Turner and husband Emmitt of Galax; and Danny Utt and Barbara Rash of Wilkesboro, NC and in-laws Paul Fink, Norma Utt and Betty Utt. Other surviving in-laws include Berta Jennings of Hillsville, Phillip and Ineda Jennings of Galax, and Lois and Ralph White of Hillsville. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Etta Cummings, Jeff Utt, Bud Utt, Ava Fink, and Jimmy Utt. She was also preceded by her in-laws Cleedia Jennings, Paul Jennings, and John Seth Jennings.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many who have cared for Lois over the last few years including Dr. Richard Shepherd and Dr. Kent Aiken; VA Tech Adult Day Services; friends; her home caregivers, Geneva Phillips and Cathy Quesenberry; and Venus Bigham, Debra Hamm and the Carilion Hospice of NRV.

Flowers are welcome but in lieu of flowers donations to Carilion Hospice Services of NRV, 707 Randolph St., Suite 251, Radford, VA 24141 would be appreciated.

The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home, Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 5 – 8 p.m. A Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009 at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Hillsville, Va. conducted by Rev. Denton White.

Go approximately 2 miles PAST Sylvatus
Turn Left onto Route 783 (Deer Ridge Road,
and turn onto Double Cabin Road
The Cemetery is approximately
1/4 - 1/2 of a mile PAST 7053 Double Cabin Road on the Left.
