Lilly Blanche Flinchum Kanode, 84, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Sherman R. Kanode; and daughter, Joyce Kanode Van Dyke.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Terry & Rita Kanode; her daughter & son-in-law, Tenna & John Hosner; special friend, Fred Williams; grandsons, Zack Kanode & wife, Michelle, David Hosner & wife, Patsy; granddaughters, Kim Bain, Michelle Stafford, Angela Serody, Marsha Van Dyke Tartar; great-grandsons, Austin, Matt, Josh, Austin, Jared, Jerry, Dylan, and Jason; great-granddaughters, Savanna, Caitlin, Rachel, Rebecca and Sara; great-great grandsons, Brenden and Keven.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 22, 2011, from 5-7 pm at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011, at 10:00 am at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mickey White and Rev. Ken Farrah officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
She loved and participated in flea markets and craft fairs, where many of her friends would visit her. She was a seamstress, candlewicker and a hand embroiderer all her life. She has been a member of the Mount Tabor Methodist Church for 38 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to Mount Tabor Methodist Church, Walton Road, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
