Howell, Lidas Phillips, 90, passed away August 22 at Skyline Manor Nursing Home in Floyd.
She is survived by five grandchildren, Michael & wife Lori, Eva, and Erma Howell; James and Ethan Howell; two great grandchildren, Landon & Weston Howell; and two daughters-in-law Winifred Howell and Julie Weaver. Also surviving are one sister, Agnes Graham, at Richfield in Salem, and one brother, Eather Phillips, at Skyline Manor in Floyd, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lidas was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Howell, in 1964; her son, James David Howell, in 1996; and by five brothers and one sister. Lidas was born to Safford and Tida Phillips on June 15, 1914, in Floyd County, one of nine children. She lived most of her adult life in Montgomery County, in the Childress community.
A sevice will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at The Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg, with Pastor Jeff Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends Monday, August 23, 2004 from 6-8 pm at The Horne Funeral Home.
