SMITH, LESSIE HARRIS, 92, of Christiansburg went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt and Mamie Harris and her sister, Alma Gay Harris. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Harold Smith, Norma Smith Bobbitt, and Rebecca (Becky) Smith; a son-in-law, Frank Bobbitt, a grandson, Michael Bobbitt; brother, Marvin Harris; nephews, Kevin Harris and Lewis Wilson Smith; nieces, Betty Smith Bauer, Margaret Smith and Pat Smith; and special friends and caregivers, Helen Bourgeois, Dorothy Cunningham, and Colleen Hall.
She retired from High?s Ice Cream and is fondly known in the community as the ?Ice Cream Lady.?
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at Horne?s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2005 Horne?s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Peters of the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to express gratitude Carilion Hospice Service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Christiansburg Church of the Brethren, 310 S. Franklin Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073 or the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 176, Christiansburg, VA 24068. The Smith Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, (382-2612).
