Leonard Epperly

April 10, 1925 — March 26, 2005

EPPERLY, LEONARD WILLIAM "DUTCH", age 79, of Riner, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a member and deacon of the North Fork Baptist Church and a longtime employee of Reed Lumber Company.

The son of the late Posey and Lula Hixon Epperly he was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Epperly. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Y. Epperly; daughter & son-in-law, Rita and Steve Reed, Riner; a granddaughter, Stephanie Smith; grandson, Gerald Reed and wife, Stephanie; great grandchildren, Lauren, Sarah and Gracelyn Smith, Justin Reed; the granddaughter's former husband, Robert Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Luther and Helen Epperly, Ray and Edith Epperly, Garnett and Peggy Epperly, Garland Epperly all of Christiansburg, Robert Epperly, Blacksburg; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby and Alfred Cupp, Blacksburg, Lois Lane, Hampton, VA; sister-in-law, Joyce Epperly, Christiansburg.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Payne and his staff, also the 2nd floor nursing staff at Montgomery Regional Hospital for the care given during his illness.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 Sunday evening at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 28, at North Fork Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Fred Brugger and Rev. Olan Gardner with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2708 Hydraulic Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901 or the American Cancer Society, 9 East Church Avenue, Roanoke, VA 24011.
