Kathleen Doris Roop

Kathleen Doris Roop, 83, of Blacksburg, Va. received her wings July 15, 2016. She was born to Paul and Ada Roop of Riner, December 8, 1932. She is survived by her only son, Ronald Roop (Lauren); grandchildren, Tyler Roop (Ashleigh Williams), Nuriyah Adams (Jake) Lexington, Va., Rahmin Bender (Samira) Washington, DC.; great-grandchildren, Layli and August Adams; nephew, William Duncan; great-nephew, Billy Vaught; special daughter Bahereh Matheney, NC. She started working at C&P telephone as an operator and retired from Verizon. She was passionate about gardening, all the children that she loved and helped raise. She joined Auburn UMC in 1978 and had 13 years of perfect attendance, was a member of the Apple Angels and Genesis to Revelation Bible Study. She was a strong, independent loving generous woman. She made an enormous difference in all our lives, she will be missed by all, God Speed Grandma… The visitation will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 12 noon – 2 pm. at Horne Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to be held directly after at 2:00 pm. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Kempfer officiating.
