Judith Harkrader

December 23, 1944 — June 17, 2009

Harkrader, Judith Farmer “Miss Judy”, 64, of Christiansburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. She was a graduate of Pulaski County High School, owner and operator of Custard Corner in Christiansburg, Va.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mideon and Mamie Millirons Farmer; two sisters, Irene Kegley and Audrey Eidson; three brothers, Donald, Clyde and Wayne Farmer. She is survived by her husband, Peery Harkrader, Jr. “Mr. Peery” of the home; daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters, Julie, Jeff, Erin, and Sarah Rose of Stephens City, VA; daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Catherine, John, Eli and Emma Terry, of Christiansburg, VA; three sisters, Pauline Hall, Carolyn Shaw, Jane Farmer; brother, Gary Farmer. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by her pets, Murphy, Spud and Christmas.

She loved and enjoyed her family, holding her pets, feeding her birds and working in her flowers. She put up a long brave fight with Alzheimer’s for the last six years, but has now received her ultimate and complete healing through the power of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 5p.m.-7p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, VA.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 2p.m. at the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Christiansburg, VA with Pastor Mike Vest and Pastor Jeff Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, VA.

Flowers are appreciated and donations in her name may be sent to Good Samaritan Hospice, 125 E. Arrowhead Trail, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
