LUCAS, JAMES “JIMMIE”, 65, of Radford VA, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 8, 2009.
He was born on August 4, 1943 in Giles County, VA, to the late Walter Harrison and Minnie Davis Lucas.
He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Jimmie leaves behind four sons and daughters-in-law; Luke and Melissa Lucas, of Blue Springs, Mark and Stephanie Lucas, John and Ami Lucas all of Christiansburg, Joey Lucas and fiancée April Carter of Blacksburg; a daughter Leona Lucas, of the home; grandchildren Samantha, Danielle, Megan, Kaitlin, Ethan, and Bethany Lucas. Also surviving is former wife and mother of his children Brenda Simpkins of Blacksburg; and several brothers and sisters; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Before becoming disabled he was a life-long carpenter. Jimmie enjoyed listening to Classic country and bluegrass music as well as spending time in the woods of his former home on Blue Springs Road.
The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home, Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 3-5 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2009 in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gleasanna Johnson officiating.
