James Wagner, Jr.

WAGNER, JAMES E., JR., age 80, of Riner, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2007 at New River Valley Medical Center.
He was the son to the late James Earl, Sr. and Brooks Danner Wagner. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Eileen K. Wagner, his sisters, Hilda Wooster, Helen Guynn, and Hazel Hutchison and his brother, Paul Wagner.
He was a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater; and an employee of Norfolk & Southern Railroad for over 35 years where he was fondly known as “Smoke”.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Wagner Tice & husband, Thomas; two sisters-in-law, Nannie Rose Tiller and Violet Wagner; brother-in-law, Herbert Stowers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kathy Hale officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Blue Ridge Chapter, One Morton Drive, Suite 106, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
