James A 'Jim' Metcalf

James A ‘Jim’ Metcalf, 86, of Christiansburg, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Berneta Mae Metcalf; and daughters, Kim Troutt and Cindy Woolwine.

Jim is survived by his children, Jesse James Metcalf (Nancy), and Melody Mae Sutphin (Ben); grandchildren, Crystal Metcalf, Jesse Metcalf Jr., Roger Woolwine (Elena), Kathleen Vance (Ruben), Harmony Hixon (Jordan), and David Sutphin; great-grandchildren, Brenna, Emma, Jake, Emily, Noah, and Grace; and sisters, Joy Neves and Dolie McCarthy.

He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jim was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged after serving at the Ladd AFB in Alaska. He retired from Federal Mogul in 1997 as a tool and die maker. He was also an avid home carpenter.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin.
