HODGES, HUBERT EUGENE, 77, of Shawsville, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at Lewis-Gale Medical Center, Salem, VA.
Hubert was born January 24, 1929 in Beckley, WV, son of the late Mosby and Allie Epperly Hodges. Hubert served with the U. S. Army in Germany during the Korean War and was retired from Old Virginia Brick.
Hubert was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Virginia Rakes Hodges; his brothers, Bill and Mosby (Junior) Hodges, and his grandson, Jeffrey Williams.
Hubert is survived by his children and their spouses, Linda Helm & husband, Richard; Alan Hodges, Bobby Hodges & wife, Debbie; and Doris Sisson & Albert Furrow; grandchildren, Heather & Danny Reed, Joe Hodges, Tracy & Shawn Taylor, Skyler Helm, James Williams & Heather Nolen and David Sisson; great grandchildren, Jessica, Bailee and Kaylee. He was also survived by in-laws, Herman & Merle Rakes, Lucille Jennings, Lorene Hodges, June Hodges and many loving nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank a special friend, Stella Akers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Shawsville Rescue Squad or Elliston Fire Department. The Hodges Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, (382-2612).
