Hubert Bullock Averette, age 91, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Virginia Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, VA.
Hubert was born in Granville County, NC, to the late Charlie B. & Clara Floyd Averette. He was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church for over 50 years; retired after 32 years from the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Services and served overseas in the Armed Forces during World War II, 103rd Infantry Division.
Hubert was preceded in death by his late wife of 49 years, Catherine Conner Averette; and five siblings. He is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, C. Samuel Averette & India M. Averette; three grandchildren, Tara Shelor of Christiansburg, VA, Joshua Averette of Chesterfield, VA, and Tiffany Averette of Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren, Andrew Carney, Brenden Carney and Riley Averette; and one brother, Louis Averett of Creedmoor, NC.
The family will be receiving guests at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, on Monday, October 8, 2012, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., followed by the funeral services in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. A. Timothy Hight. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
