Hollie Nuckols

August 9, 1927 — December 31, 2009

Hollie Mae Lucas Nuckols, 82, of Christiansburg was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 31 at the Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side.

Hollie was the daughter of Robert Lucas and Bessie Lucas Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Richardson, Inas Snavely, and Beulah Luckado; a brother Arnold Lucas; grandson, Michael Jason Nuckols; a granddaughter, Jennifer Michele Collins; and a son-in-law, Daniel Leonard Seavey.

She is survived by her son, Edward E. Nuckols, Jr., of Blacksburg; son and daughter-in-law Roger and Diane Nuckols; daughter, Sylvia (Nuckols) Seavey of Christiansburg; daughters and sons-in-law Carolyn (Nuckols)and Roger Ratcliffe of Pilot; Patty (Nuckols) and Billy Dove of Christiansburg; granddaughters, Bethany and Erica Leigh of Blacksburg; and one great-grandchild. Hollie is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Robert Pugh of Riner; half-brother Marvin and Debbie Harris of Christiansburg; special cousin, Ruby Anders of Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home Chapel with the Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the entire nursing staff at the Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially Joyce and Carla; and to Good Samaritan Hospice, especially Tammy, Margaret, Karen, Phyllis, and Todd, for all the love, care and concern given our mother and family during her illness.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 125 Arrowhead Trail, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
