Herbert McCarthey Linkous, 82, of Elliston, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of over 50 years, Sylvia Rakes Linkous; brothers, Ribble Linkous and Troy Bean Linkous; sister, Barbara Ann Barnett; and a grandchild, Conner Lovell. He is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Betty W. Linkous; daughters, Drema Lovell and Connie Collins; grandchildren, Mark Collins, Spencer Lovell, Tyler Lovell, and Christopher Lovell; great-grandchildren, Jordon Collins, Blake Collins, Jacob Collins, and Mason Collins; brother, Mitchell Linkous & wife Delores; sister, Nadine & husband Rev. Phillip Martin; sister-in-law, Nancy Linkous; several nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Don & Ida Rakes.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. with a funeral service will commence at 7 p.m. at New Hope Church of God, with Pastor T. Michael Bond officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Shawsville Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 14, Shawsville, VA 24162, or to Christiansburg Rescue Squad, 10 East Main St., Christiansburg, VA 24073.
