Herbert Wayne Gilmer, 56, of Fredericksburg, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mr. Gilmer was employed by Dominion VA Power for 32 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Gilmer; son Kevin W. Gilmer, of Fredericksburg; daughters, Rebecca A. Gilmer, of Fredericksburg, and Jennifer L. Welker and husband, Joseph, of Radford; brother, James Gilmer, of Radford; sisters, Colleen Bragg, of Radford, and Beulah Reed and Shelba Baker, both of Christiansburg; father and mother-in-law, Sherman K. and Virginia C. Haley; and granddaughter, Nylah Grace Miles.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at Horne Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in his name to the American Heart Association , Memorials Processing Center, Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Donor Relations for Orthotics and Prosthetics, 3551 North Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140-4131.
