Jennings, Hazel Mae Wimmer, 86, a resident of Christiansburg, VA., died Friday, July 22, 2005 surrounded by her family at the Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, N.C..
Mrs. Jennings was born February 24, 1919, in Floyd County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Ezra Parlee and Launah Rose Wimmer. She was a devoted wife and mother, and her joy in life came from caring for her home and family. Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her husband Estel Clinton Jennings, and her son Dennis Clinton Jennings.
Survivors include her daughter; Nora Lee Jennings Saunders and her husband William A. Saunders of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. and her daughter-in-law; Jo Ann Jennings of Pilot, VA. Her Grandchildren, Deborah Anne Deringer, John R. Saunders and Jennifer J. Linder, her great-grandchildren; Lauren Elizabeth Deringer, Paige Marie Deringer, John R. Saunders, IV, Christine Elizabeth Saunders, Raegan Joy Linder and Dakota Holland.
The family will join friends at the visitation Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Horne Funeral Home, 1300 N. Franklin St. Christiansburg, VA. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, VA with the Rev. Layne Board officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 554 Roanoke, VA 24003 or the American Parkinson?s Disease Association, 60 Bay St. Suite 401, Staten Island, N.Y. 10301. Horne Funeral Service, 1300 N. Franklin St., Christiansburg, VA 24073, and Twiford Funeral Home, 405 East Church St., Elizabeth City, NC 27909 is serving the Jennings family.
