Harold Phillips

May 17, 1927 — August 7, 2005

PHILLIPS, JESSE ?HAROLD? of Christiansburg, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on August 7, 2005.

He was 78. Harold was a devoted member of the Belview United Methodist Church in Radford. He also retired from RAAP-Hercules in 1990. He was also a WWII veteran where he served with the Army?s 286th JSCO Division.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin & Floy Phillips; a brother, Charles Allen Phillips; three sisters, Audrey Roberts, Pearl Showalter and Mildred Senzel.

Harold is survived by his wife, Melva Stanger Phillips; a son and daughter-in-law, Rickie N. & Teresa R. Phillips; three grandsons, Kyle, Jacob and Jesse Phillips, all of Christiansburg. Also four brothers and sisters-in-law, Verlon & Jean Phillips of Oregon, Benjamin Jr. & Judy Phillips of Iowa; Kenneth & Shirley Phillips of Kentucky; Hoyt & Linda Phillips of Radford; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Doris & Buddy King of Iowa, Elsie Proffit of North Carolina; Joyce & Burley Harris of Roanoke; Ella & Franklin Cromer of Riner; 12 nieces and 12 nephews; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elsie & Silas Cox; nieces Ann Hall & Shirley Cobb. Jesse Harold Phillips will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Belview United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at the Belview United Methodist Church with Rev. Aaron Fitch and Rev. Sebert Rorrer officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Parkinson?s Disease Foundation, 710 West 168th Street; New York, NY 10032. The Phillips Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg (382-2612).
