THOMPSON, GLENN WILBURN, age 77, of Riner, passed away at his home on Friday, September 30, 2005.

He was born on April 9, 1928, in Montgomery County, Virginia, to the late Trigg and Lala Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Lee Thompson, and his brother Cedric Thompson. He proudly served his Country in the U. S. Merchant Marines and the U. S. Navy. He was a member of the Christiansburg Church of Christ and the American Legion.

Glenn is survived by his loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; sons, Dennis Ray Thompson and his wife, Ann of Litchfield, NH and Michael Dean Thompson and his wife, Robin of Radford; daughters, Pamela Gaye Myers and her husband Gary of Colonial Heights, and Carolyn Lee Lytton and her husband Marvin of Blacksburg; granddaughters, Jessica Schmidt and her husband SSgt. Alexander Schmidt, USAF, of Dover, Delaware; Terri Thompson of Radford and Stephanie Lytton of Blacksburg; grandsons, Scott Lytton of Blacksburg and Brandon Thompson of Radford; great grandchildren Sebastian Schmidt of Dover, Delaware, and Ethan Lytton of Blacksburg. Glenn is also survived by devoted siblings: Christine Reed, Betty Teel, and Erma Jean Gallimore of Christiansburg, Nancy Tackitt of Brentwood, TN, Marie Hensley of Blacksburg, Major Thompson of Farmville, Russell Thompson of Cypress, TX and Joseph Thompson of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening, October 2nd at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Christiansburg Church of Christ with Mr. Dennis Curd and Mr. Carnice Mannon officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post #1184. Online condolences may be sent by visiting denann@verizon.net .
