George Dewese

George Everett Dewese, 83, of Shawsville passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital.

He was born February 15, 1929, in Ronceverte, WV, the son of the late Ninevah B. and Daisy Ellen Moss Dewese He was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Price Scott; and a brother, William Rogers Dewese. Surviving are his wife, Matsue Y. Dewese.

Mr. Dewese was a U.S. Army veteran, having served over 22 years, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7), a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.

He was a member of the Pearl River Lodge #3 A.F. & A.M., Taiwan and Craighill Lodge A.F. & A.M., Elliston, VA. He was a Scottish Rite Mason 33º IGH, Roanoke, Kazim Temple Shriners, a Hall of Honor Scottish Rite Mason, and was an Honorary member of the Order of Demolay. He had received the Radford University Lifetime Achievement Award and was a N.R.A. Benefactor Member.

The family will receive friends at the Horne Funeral Home from 5 until 8 Monday, February 20, 2012. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 27 in the Horne Funeral Chapel with Pastor Shake Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full Masonic Rites and Military Graveside Rites.
