Geneva was a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Geneva grew up in a large family, the fourth of nine children, and was raised on farm in Floyd County. She was a life long member of the Christiansburg Church of Christ and Sunday school teacher. Geneva and her husband Guy were active in the community and enjoyed attending area music events and traveling, especially the annual Teel family reunions at Myrtle Beach. Growing up, Geneva always wanted to be a nurse. She achieved her dream and became an LPN and worked for Dr. Hal Smith for many years, and after retirement served the community as a Hospice volunteer. In 1977 Geneva was honored when she received the Montgomery County Woman of the Year Award in the category of Health. Many of her precious hours were spent visiting with the sick and providing comfort and support to those who were frightened, bereaved, suffering, or lonely.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Christiansburg Church of Christ, with Mr. Dennis Curd officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral service.

Flowers are appreciated, however, anyone wishing to do so may make a donation in Geneva’s name to Good Samaritan Hospice, 1160 Moose Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
