Garnett Adkins

February 24, 1922 — June 30, 2004

ADKINS, GARNETT LESLIE, age 82, of Christiansburg passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at his home.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served three years he was discharged in 1946. He was a employee of the Radford Army Ammunition Plant having retired in 1984. The son of the late Dewey and Lydia Adkins, he was also preceded in death by a son, Toney Adkins and a brother, Arnold Adkins.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Leona Adkins; four children, Barbara Carroll Adkins, Garnett Wayne Adkins, Eddie Lowell Adkins and Jacqueline Roop Loar; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charlie Wilford and Dorothy Adkins, Melvin and Dorothy Adkins, Paul Adkins; a sister, Thelma Adkins; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Friday evening at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 3, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Dewey Weaver, Jr. and Rev. Jube Burk. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The Adkins family is being served by Horne Funeral & Cremation Service, Christiansburg, VA (382-2612)
