Frank (Ray) Howell

Frank (Ray) Howell, 76, of Christiansburg, passed away on October 30, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry ‘Tobe’ Howell and Lillian Thompson Howell; as well as sisters, Mary Caudle, Katie Yopp, Jennie Mae Harris, Viola Robertson, brothers, William ‘Rangely’ Howell, James Howell, and Paul Howell.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Dorraine Howell Phillips (Richard); sons, Roger Howell (Robin), and Gary Howell (Nancy); grandchildren, Amanda McChesney, Emily Reed (Michael), Heather Quesenberry (Charles), Joseph Phillips, and Curtis Howell; four step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Ethel Howell; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Carilion Hospice, his nurse of 6 months Dixie Whitt, and the Medical Care Unit of Carilion New River Valley Medical Center for their care of Ray.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 3, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home.
