Sowers, Ferd Archie, 82, of Christiansburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 20, 2009.
He was born on May 24, 1927 in Floyd County, VA the son of the late Posey and Addie H. Sowers. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marianne Gearheart, sisters and brothers, Vera Conner, Harold Sowers, Buelah Martin, Howard Sowers and Zorene Radford.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lorraine Sowers; his granddaughter, Heather Self; grandson, Jeremiah Gearheart; two great-grandchildren “the apples of his eyes”, Mason and Blair Self; and his sister, Helen Graham.
The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m.,Wednesday, October 21, 2009. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Christiansburg Church of Brethren, with Rev. Don Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, VA. Fowers will be appreciated, however those wishing to make memorial donations are askied to consider, The Arthritis Foundation, P.O. Box 96280, Washington, D.C. 20077-7491.
