Evelyn Harris

Evelyn Moore Harris, 85, of Riner, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Marvin T. Harris; her parents, Nelson and Maitha Moore; sisters, Cleo Reece, Sylvia Phillips, Mildred Simpkins, Annie Mac Simpkins; brother, Davis Moore; niece, Shelby Roberts; and nephew, Harold Smith.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Harris & wife Susan; grandchildren, Emily and Lyndsay Harris; nieces, Teresa Simpkins, Alice Marshall, Charlotte Roberts, Linda Smith, Rebecca Smith, and Norma Lee Bobbitt; as well as nephews, Sam Simpkins, Herbert Simpkins, Travis Simpkins, Nelson Simpkins, Don Simpkins, Gene Reece, and Gary Phillips.

Evelyn was a lifelong member of Auburn United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. She was employed by Leggett/Belk for 31 years. She will be missed greatly by her only son, to whom she dedicated tremendous time, effort, and love, shaping and molding his life into something she could be proud of.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Auburn United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 17th at 11 a.m. at Auburn United Methodist Church, with Rev. Scott Wilks officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
