Esther Grubb

November 11, 1917 — March 16, 2006

GRUBB, ESTHER PRICE, age 88, of Blacksburg, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

She was a true southern lady, gracious and kind to all; she taught her values by example. It was always uplifting to spend time with her. A faithful member of Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church, for years she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed participating in McDonald Mill and Shiloh Methodist Women?s Groups. An excellent cook and a collector of recipes, wit and wisdom, she leaves us with fond memories of her laughter and generosity of spirit.

The widow of the late Jackson Odell Grubb, she is survived by sisters, Virginia (Sis) Absher, Margaret Smith, brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Betty Price, sisters-in-law, Sylvia Price, Nora Price, Virginia Toney, Lucille Grubb, Kathleen Grubb, Allie Underwood, Iris Crump, Irene Grubb, Glenda Gibbs & husband, Jim, Dorothy Cleary, and Eleanor Hickey; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn and Gene Price, Lorraine Plunkett; son, Ballard Grubb; grandchildren, Marie and Joe Greene, Sharon and Steve Davis, Guy Jackson & Melet Price, Lori & Patrick Belcher, Lynn & Paul VanGosen, Holly Plunkett and fianc?, Don Turner, William R. Plunkett, James Grubb, Melissa and Keith Webb, and Joseph Grubb: great grandchildren, Ean Greene, Crystal Davis, Quentin & Kyndra Davis, Heather, Patrick and Mary Price, Joshua Harris, Sara Van Gosen, Laurel Belcher, Bryan Belcher, Nathan, Andrew and Nicole Webb, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, all very dear to her.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 Saturday evening at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 19th at the Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church conducted by Dr. Charles Taylor and Pastor Ed DeBerry. The Grubb family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, VA (382-2612)
