Elizabeth Chrisman

September 10, 1908 — May 15, 2014

Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Zimmerman Chrisman, 105, of Christiansburg, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Zimmerman; husband, George Allen Chrisman Jr.; granddaughter, Kathryn E. Job; and brothers and sisters, Harriet Zimmerman, Hilda Smeltzer, Osie Sowder, George Zimmerman, and Ella Sample. She is survived by her children, Judith C. Job and husband Bob, of Christiansburg, and George William Chrisman and wife Mary, of Chincoteague; nieces and nephews, Betty Maxey, of Christiansburg, Curtis Chrisman and wife Faye, of Christiansburg, Randy Zimmerman and wife Gail, Steve Smeltzer and wife Sandy, Linda Francisco and husband Ed, all of Salem, Mike Smeltzer and wife Catherine, of Roanoke, and Robin Smeltzer and wife Jill, of Abingdon; grandchildren, Robert Job IV and wife Amy, of Wenham, Massachusetts, Daryl Chrisman, of Chincoteague, and Sandra Chrisman, of San Diego, CA; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Job and Keirn Kirk; as well as her beloved cat, Punkin.

Beth was a second grade teacher for 30 years at Weller Baker School in Cambria, and was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of Commonwealth Assisted Living, specifically the Stay at Home Program for their care of Beth.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 4-6 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Copeland and Rev. Doug Kanney officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
