Reed, Effie Mae, 87, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010.
She was born on April 14, 1923 to the late Posie Flinchum and Annie Goins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Martin Reed.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Blackwell; brother, Harvey Flinchum; stepdaughter, Joyce and Archie Light; nieces, Sharon Flinchum and Lori Helvey; nephews, Gary Blackwell, Doyle Flinchum, David Flinchum; grandchildren, Jackie Akers and Ellen; great grandchildren, Tracy Whitlock and Jason; two great-great grandchildren; special pet companion, “Precious”.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 6p.m.-8p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2p.m., Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, VA.
The family wishes to thank New River Valley Medical Center for all their care and kindness.
