KING, EARL BANE of Check, VA, the beloved husband of Cathern Musselman King, passed away on May 7, 2007 at the New River Valley Medical Center after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Earl was born on December 25, 1929 in Floyd County to the late Michael C. and Lilly King. He was a veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lebron Carr Winks, Dormal Vest, Lena Wright, Georgia Hix, and Hilda Flinchum. He was two surviving siblings, Emma L. King and Lawton B. King, both of Vinton, VA. Also surviving are his loving children, Barry W. King and special friend, Samantha of Shawsville; Teresa Jones and husband, Bruce of Christiansburg; Cynthia Piskadlo and husband, Edward of Sterling, VA; and B. J. King and wife, Amanda of Check, VA. He was “Pappaw” to ten grandchildren, Jessica Hubbard and husband, Frank; Danielle Hawks, Ashley and Amber King; Christina, Courtney, Suzanne and Sara Jones; Morgan and Michael Piskadlo; five precious great grandchildren, Alexis, Jacob and Logan King; and Kaylee and MacKencie Hubbard.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Den Hill Cemetery.
