Earl Cox, 74, of Christiansburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dorsey Cox; and his wife, Mary Frances Cox. He is survived by his children, Jenny Spain and husband Paul, and David J. Cox and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Stephanie Sydnor, Andrew Spain, Emily Spain, Hannah Cox, Davis Cox, and Alexandra Cox; great-grandchildren, Elaina, Uriah, Grace, Aliyah, and Eddie; as well as special friend, Bonnie Wimmer.
Earl retired as the Renovations Coordinator at Virginia Tech, but continued to work and maintain his family cattle farm. Earl attended Trinity Baptist Church and Open Door Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Monroe Hedrick officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
Flowers are appreciated, however, anyone wishing to do so may make a donation in Earl’s name to Trinity Baptist Church, P O Box 787, Christiansburg, VA 24068, or to Open Door Baptist Church, 3995 Roanoke St., Christiansburg, VA 24073.
