Donna Marie Altizer Richardson

Donna Marie Altizer Richardson, of Christiansburg, went to her heavenly home on May 5, 2016. She was born on July 14, 1952 in Roanoke, VA. Donna was a very loving and caring person. She looked for the bright side of life. Her faith has been an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John Richardson; her father, Donald B. Altizer; her brother, Jim Altizer; her brothers-in-law, Jesse Harmon, William ‘Bo’ Richardson, and Danny Richardson. She is survived by her mother, Helen Naff Altizer; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Deneise Altizer; sisters-in-law, Martha Altizer and Mary Richardson Harmon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Rhonda Richardson, Thomas ‘Butch’ and Ella Richardson, Jeff and Terri Richardson; a multitude of nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Dana Meadows, Rolita Cannon, Steve Cannon, and Pat Robinson.

Donna had a special love for animals, especially ones in need of love and care. She is also survived by her little furry friend and constant companion, Boots.

We would like to thank all of our family and friends for their love and support of Donna and John and all of us. We especially appreciate the love, support and kindness shown by Donna’s neighbors. Special thanks to the folks at Christiansburg Church of the Brethren and Good Samaritan Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, from 12-2 p.m. at Christiansburg Church of the Brethren, with the Funeral Service to begin at 2 p.m. Pastor Don Peters will officiate and interment will follow in the SW Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin.
