Donald Emerson Waite

Donald Emerson Waite, of Copper Hill, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, in Salem, Virginia, after a short illness. He was born on December 9, 1946, to the late Lorraine and William Waite, Jr. of Williamsburg, Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kay, and his brother, Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Kristen; son, Keith Waite (Mary); daughter, Tabitha Troglin (Justin); stepsons David McCormick (Cortney); Sean McCormick (Pollie); and Timothy McCormick (Elspeth); grandchildren, Tyler, Jaxson, Ethan, Seth, Dylan, Harrison, Donovan, Leslie, Owen, and Cora; sister, Beverly Dunn (Chis), sister-in-law, Mary Beth Waite; nieces, Koreen, Sondra, Julie, April, and Tonya; and many grand-nieces and nephews.
Don served in the United States Air Force from 1964-1968, and spent many years in youth ministry with the Lutheran churches in the Virginia Tidewater area. He served on the board of To Our House, a winter sheltering program of New River Community Action, and was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Christiansburg, Virginia.
The memorial service that was tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 3 pm, has been postponed and will be occurring after the first of the year. Please check back to the obituary or feel free to call the funeral home for further updates.
