Donald ‘Don’ M. Stroup, of Craig County, VA, went peacefully Home to meet his Savior on Saturday, January 28, 2017.
Don was born in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Nederland High School. After graduation he attended Stephen F. Austin College. Don then joined the Air Force where he served with distinction in both the Air Force and Air Force Reserves. After military service, he entered into the banking industry where he rose to become President and CEO of various banks in Texas and Colorado before retiring.
Don was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy and Glenn Stroup. He is survived by his wife, Susan Stroup; brother, Douglas Stroup; children, Chad Stroup, Sharla Stroup, and Michelle Pyles; granddaughters, Ava Stroup and Hanah Pyles; as well as other extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 2-3 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will be at the Sunville Cemetery in Pennsylvania.
