Donald Atkinson

Donald Redmond Atkinson, 80, of Christiansburg, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014.
Don was born to John Med Atkinson and Margretta DeHart Atkinson Arrington. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his sons, Donald Redmond Atkinson, II, John Med Atkinson; and his brother, William (Bill) Edward Atkinson.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Betty Atkinson Street, of Mount Airy, NC; niece, Terry Sue Goodson; nephews, Roddy Kenneth (Ken) Street, Jr., William (Billy) Edward Atkinson, Jr. and Benjamin Atkinson; and sister-in-law, Sue Atkinson.
Don was a retired employee of C & P Telephone in which he had 37 years service, working as a lineman and central office technician. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, NASCAR racing and listening to country music, Ray Price being his favorite. He was a member of Main Street (Gracelife) Baptist Church.
Graveside service with military honors will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. Rev. Olen Gardner will be officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
