HANDY, DARIS M. CARTER, 95, of Christiansburg, passed away at her home on Sunday, May 28, 2006. The widow of the late James Lundy Handy, she is survived by 10 children.
Her daughters are: JoAnn Linkous, Roanoke; Dinah and Larry Hall, Catawba; Wanda Handy, Delaware; Dodie Herndon, SC; and Katie Handy, Delaware. Her sons are: James C. and Betty P. Handy, Bristol, VA; Hiram L. (Jeff) Handy, Charlotte; Roger and Anna Handy, Radford; Arvel Handy, Charlotte; and Bobby Handy, Shawsville. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Virginia Carter, Chilhowie; Mary Handy, Dublin; Elizabeth Wills, Dublin; and Alta Handy, Bristol. She is survived by 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Friends may call anytime after 12:00 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Everett Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. The Handy Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg (540)382-2612. ?Gone but never forgotten.?
