Claudine Altizer Miles

On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, Claudine Altizer Miles, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on December 1, 1923 and grew up in Radford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Waddie and Agnes Altizer; brothers, William (Bill) Altizer, Emory (Cody) Altizer, Truby Altizer and son W. Alan Miles.

Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, David (Tony) Miles and Deborah McFarland Miles; daughter-in-law Shelia Palmer Miles; granddaughters, Christine Miles McCallister and husband Dougley McCallister, Reagan Miles, Monica Miles, Sarah Beth Miles; and only grandson, Cody-Alan Miles.

Claudine was a fearless woman who devoted her young adult life to raising her sons, Alan and Tony. She was a loving grandmother who adored her grandchildren and gave her time selflessly to each of them.

Claudine will be remembered for her humor and wit which she often displayed to friends and family.

The Miles family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Heritage Hall for the loving care they provided Claudine. The family would also like to express their gratitude to her roommate, Ms. Callie, for all the love and attention she gave to Claudine.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Horne Funeral Home with a celebration of life service, officiated by Pastor Don Peters, held at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
